Mike Antoniades

Founder and Director of The Running School.

Mike is the founder and Coaching Director of Sport Dimensions and The Running School.  Mike has been a coach for 30 years and has worked in the UK, Europe and the USA. He has worked with a number of professional athletes and clubs from different sports including soccer, rugby, basketball, tennis and track and field. He is a qualified UEFA A Licensed Coach, Speed Coach, Strength & Conditioning Coach and Rehabilitation Specialist.

Mike runs coaching workshops and seminars in Europe and the USA, on Speed and Power Development, Rehabilitation and Long Term Development of Soccer Athletes, and is a guest lecturer at Sheffield University on Injury Prevention and Rehabilitation techniques. He has developed a number of performance and rehabilitation programmes and protocols.

He has worked as a coach at professional and academy level in the UK and Europe and works as a coaching consultant for professional football and Rugby clubs as well as track and field athletes in the UK and the USA. His reputation as a coach in Speed Development and rehabilitation has seen him featured in national newspapers, magazines and television all over the world.

Mike is the author of the DVD on developing speed in football called “Feel the Speed” and the co- author of “101 Fitness Exercises for 7-11 year Olds” and  “101 Fitness Exercises for 12-16 year Olds” . He is currently writing a book on Speed & Power Development.

Mike set-up the Running School programme after years of working with elite and professional athletes and changing their biomechanics to make them more efficient. He found that the techniques were easily adapted to teaching children and adults how to run efficiently and effectively. The Running School now teaches children from the age of seven through to adults how to run and how to run faster.

Manager and Running Director

Michael graduated from a degree in Sport Rehabilitation at St Mary’s College in Twickenham in 2001. In 2004 Michael completed a Masters degree in Sports and Exercise Medicine at Nottingham University.

He completed his thesis on rehabilitation of knee pain which he presented at an international conference in Lausanne in Switzerland. Michael also holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education.

In his early years out of University he worked in several clinics as well as working in professional sport in hockey and in Rugby League with London Skolars and Harlequins RL. During this time he also lectured full time on the degree programme at St Mary’s College.

Michael joined Sport Dimensions in 2006 where he worked both managing the Rehabilitation and Performance Centre and helping to set-up the Sport Dimensions Physiotherapy Clinic at The Riverside Health and Racquets Club.

More recently Michael has been involved with The Running School since its beginnings in 2008 and has helped to develop its current structure. Michael now manages The Running School Centres, Franchising and Business Development. Michael lectures in the UK and across Europe for Performance Stability Ltd on the area of injury prevention screening and movement control. Through this he has been employed with several premier league football clubs and sporting association across Europe to screen their athletes.

Michael is a member of the executive committee of the British Association of Sport Rehabilitators and Trainers (BASRaT) and also sits on the editorial board of Sport Ex Dynamics.

verity ansell

Running Coach and Manager

Verity Ansell, a sport science and dance graduate from Roehampton University.

She is NSCA qualified strength and conditioning coach and has experience in a range of sports. Verity is an ex county level runner with a 10k personal best of 32:06 but now dedicates herself to her passion rowing.

She is currently training with Vesta Rowing Club with the ultimate goal of reaching GB standard. Verity has a background in running from working in a specialist running store. She joined the Running School team in 2010.
