FAQs

I’m a beginner, and I want to get into running for fitness and fun. I currently find running hard, because of this I find I lack motivation on occasions. Can The Running School help?

Yes! We work with many such individuals. The fact is that nobody normally teaches people how to run, we are all just expected to pick it up along the way… With poor technique various area in the body are overworked and become prone to undue fatigue and eventually injury. By learning the correct technique for you, efficiency of your running will improve and risk of overuse injur will decrease significantly

I currently run at a good level, what can The Running School do for me?

It is often the goal of runners we work with to reach a new Personal Best over their given distance. Many good runners put in massive weekly milages in an attempt to reach a new level in their performance, however intead of reaching their goal, they end up injured. These runners are often looking in the wrong place for the answers, they need to improve their technique before anything else. The improved efficency is enough to cut chunks out of your time.

I’m currently carrying an injury, can The Running School help?

At The Running School we work closely with Physiotherapists to ensure that any your programme can be tailored to your specific needs in terms of Injury Rehabilitation, strengthening weaknesses, improving stability and mobility. We term this Rehab Running. When you are fit to recommense running, we analyse and improve your running style to ensure that the risk of further injury is reduced.

What happens at the first session?

This is probably the most critical session. Normally during the indoor sessions, the first session is a Biomechanical Analysis. This means we observe the way your body currently moves during running. This is done with Video Analysis Software. From this we can show you floors in your technique, explain where your weaknesses lie, and show you how we can help.

What kit should I bring?

Simple, whatever you feel comfortable running in. You may get quite hot if you are doing an indoor session!

Will I get homework?

Yes, every Running School client gets a handbook containing a 16 week programme to follow, warm up and cool down information, functional strength training guidence, nutritional advice and other useful information.
