James and Mike from the Running School in Chiswick have really helped me to change my running style to a much more efficient gait. In only a few sessions I had changed from a heel strike to a forefoot strike with a slightly higher cadence. By landing under my centre of gravity instead of ahead of it, I found it easier to maintain my momentum and lighten the impact of my knees. Once I had mastered the technique, James then really pushed me with some brick sessions where I took my bike along and did some interval training with short bursts on the treadmill straight off the bike. For the last 2 years I have been constantly injured after running, which affected my enthusiasm. My wife heard of the running school and booked an appointment for me to see what it was about as a present so I had no idea what I was letting myself in for. During the assessment I was put through my paces and within the hour James identified some of the poor habit I had developed in my running style, which were causing my problems. He was able to show these through the video he shot and it was easy to see. Working with Teri I have corrected my running technique and begun to strengthen specific areas of my body. I am running pain free. It has been a brilliant experience. They are professional, enthusiastic and patient as well as encouraging. I have great confidence in what they ask me to do as I know it will make a positive difference. I say that I am now running consciously and not unconsciously as I was before.
