Recreational Runners

What do we do?

We Teach You How To Run! ..and Then We Teach You How To Run Faster!

But if you or someone you know has never been taught how to run,

Would like to start running even if you’ve never run before?

Want to learn how to run injury free and with good running technique?

Want to burn fat and maintain a healthy strong body?

Want to become fitter and be able to run for longer than you’ve ever imagined?

Then the Running School is where you start.

How does it work?

When you sign-up to the Running School you get Six Training Sessions.

In the first session we spend time analysing and assessing your Biomechanics – the way you move, the way you walk and jog. We look at any weaknesses you may have and then we start correcting your biomechanics.

The next Five Training sessions are dedicated to teaching and coaching the correct technique, based on your fitness level and what you want to achieve.

We also give you homework! Training programmes that you can follow when you are on your own. Don’t worry if you can’t run long distances or haven’t run for years – The training will be based on your individual fitness level.

The Biomechanics

The first session is also the most important because we look at the weaknesses of the body in movement. How your body reacts to the change of movement going from walking to running and from running to sprinting.

Balanced biomechanics, form, and technique are key factors to running faster, more efficiently, and injury-free. Correct running form ensures that we create and maintain linear momentum, reduce joint impact, minimize energy loss and maximize efficiency and economy.

The application of Biomechanical, Gait and Movement Analysis and video documentation helps us to identify any weaknesses and the underlying causes for weaknesses in walking, running,  and sprinting. The results help us to develop individualised, technique, pre-hab and performance programmes people.

Avoiding Injury

Millions of people use running to keep fit, to reduce the stresses of everyday life and to help them to achieve their sporting ambitions.
Irrespective of the level you run, whether you are a recreational runner who runs to keep fit, a serious amateur who likes to participate in races, or an elite athlete, who competes at the highest level you can always improve your running and sprinting technique.

Every year between 25% to 50% of runners will sustain an injury that will require them to change the way they run or train or to seek assistance in  physiotherapy or medication, most of these injuries are preventable. They are not mainly due to trauma like you would get in football or rugby, but due to repetitive small loads being applied repeatedly over many runs. The loads are due to incorrect running biomechanics.

Most of the injuries that runners get are because of landing shock. The running style and stride length that many novice runners take is quite different to experienced and elite athletes. There are a few common weakness that all beginners share: The slow cadence leads to spending longer in the air, the longer you are in the air the higher you move your body mass and the harder you hit the ground on landing.

Many of us have never been taught how to run. We think it’s something that we will pick-up naturally and we don’t realise until the pain begins that we are actually running badly and which can lead to injuries.

Running well and running fast is a skill and not just something you were born with and just like any other skill it can be taught. We teach hundreds of people every year how to run more efficiently so they can avoid and reduce injuries.
